DJI Matrice 400 Sets New Standard for Intelligent and Efficient Long-Endurance Aerial Missions
Enterprise Flagship Drone Platform Enhanced with Extended Flight Time, Intelligent Power-Line-Level Obstacle Sensing, and Heavier Payload Capacity
“DJI sets the gold standard worldwide for operational safety, efficiency, and reliability with our enterprise drones. This is why professionals across industries rely on DJI drones for critical search and rescue missions, situational awareness, and commercial jobs around the world,” said Christina Zhang, Senior Director of Corporate Strategy at DJI. “With DJI Matrice 400, we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible with nearly an hour of flight time and more intelligent features to ensure the safety of people and property.”
Extended Range, Reliable Performance
Matrice 400 delivers improved flight capabilities, making it a reliable tool for long-duration and continuous operations such as search and rescue, firefighting, and large-scale mapping. It offers up to 59 minutes of forward flight time, even with a payload, and up to 53 minutes of hovering. The drone has an IP55 protection rating, which means it can operate in harsh environments and extreme temperatures from -20°C to 50°C. To address the requirements for offshore operations such as wind turbine inspections and maritime patrol, Matrice 400 can also safely take off from stationary vessels and land on moving ships.
Power-Line-Level Obstacle Avoidance
The powerful obstacle sensing system enables Matrice 400 to avoid buildings and mountains while flying up to 25 m/s. Equipped with LiDAR, mm-Wave radar, and full-color low-light fisheye vision sensors, it can also avoid smaller objects like high-voltage power lines on a mountain range at night. Its fusion positioning system also allows it to fly stably close to glass facade buildings or wind turbine blades and safely return from scenes like the top of a building or mountain bases – even when the return point has not been updated.
Robust Video Transmission
With the O4 Enterprise Enhanced Video Transmission, Matrice 400 can achieve image transmission up to 40 km thanks to the ten-antenna system on the aircraft and a high-gain phased array antenna on the remote controller. It also has a built-in video transmission relay module, allowing operators to use one Matrice 400 as a relay drone to provide relay signals for another Matrice 400. This function can significantly expand the operational range in environments with severe obstructions, such as mountain ranges. Matrice 400 also supports the sub2G frequency band, and when equipped with two DJI Cellular Dongle 2, it can automatically switch to the better available carrier network. This ensures a stable signal even in interference environments or remote regions.
Ultra Intelligent, Ultra Efficient Automated Operations
Matrice 400 features several new intelligent features to enable more efficient and automated operations. Smart Detection can discern vehicles, vessels, and subjects during search and rescue operations and routine flights -- even in thermal mode. Smart AR Projection makes it easy for operators to navigate challenging terrain with the remote controller. For example, when the obstacle sensing system detects power lines, the Power Line AR creates an easily recognizable display on the remote controller. Also, the remote controller can display the names of buildings and landmarks in real-time, marking core roads with prominent lines when using the Map View AR. Real-Time Terrain Follow is supported when flying in any horizontal direction, ensuring a stable height-to-ground flight.
Supports Multiple Payloads for Multiple Scenarios
Matrice 400 features four external E-Port V2 ports, allowing up to seven payloads to be mounted simultaneously, with a maximum load capacity of 6 kg. It supports flexible configuration with either a single downward gimbal or a dual downward gimbal setup, and is compatible with an additional gimbal connector on the underside. Payloads from DJI and third parties are compatible, including:
-
Zenmuse H30 Series: All-weather multi-sensor payload for capturing images night or day. It integrates five major modules—a wide-angle camera, a zoom camera, an infrared thermal camera, a laser range finder, and an NIR auxiliary light.
-
Zenmuse L2: Provides DJI flight platforms with more precise, efficient, and reliable geospatial data using frame-based LiDAR, a self-developed high-accuracy IMU system, and a 4/3 CMOS RGB mapping camera.
-
Zenmuse P1: Designed for photogrammetry flight missions, it integrates a full-frame sensor with interchangeable fixed-focus lenses on a 3-axis stabilized gimbal.
-
Zenmuse S1: DJI's first spotlight designed for multi-payload drone platforms, utilizing LEP laser bright light technology, offering high brightness and long illumination distance, and supporting multiple lighting modes.
-
Zenmuse V1: DJI's first loudspeaker designed for multi-payload drone platforms. It boasts high volume and long broadcast distance, and supports multiple broadcast modes.
-
Manifold 3: A high-performance embedded computer that can enhance flight, gimbal, and camera control, optimizing efficiency across various operational missions with robust processing.
Industry-Leading Privacy Controls
DJI meets the enhanced data security and privacy needs of enterprise operators through a wide range of privacy controls. No flight logs**, images, or videos are synced with DJI servers unless authorised by the operator. Users can choose to fly offline by activating Local Data Mode, which disconnects the DJI Pilot 2 app from the internet, or opt to use third-party software solutions with their DJI drone instead. Operators can also review and adjust their privacy settings, as well as clear cached data or wipe stored information at any time via the flight app. Since 2017, DJI has regularly submitted its products for independent security audits by reputable firms including Booz Allen Hamilton, FTI Consulting, and Kivu Consulting. DJI has also obtained globally recognised certifications, including FIPS 140-2 Level 1, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701. To learn more, visit the DJI Trust Center's Resources page.
